Change. It’s an inevitable part of life; we are not meant to be stagnant. Sometimes change is exciting, filled with the thrill of new possibilities and opportunities; sometimes it’s heartbreaking and confronts us with loss and uncertainty. This is not the first time I’ve encountered a significant change in my life. I’ve lived through experiences and challenges that (fortunately) many people will never know. But today, I started a journey, an adventure, an exploration of other countries and myself, my own personal “Eat, Pray, Love”-type discovery.

In various spiritual religions, “open sky” symbolizes a clear and uncluttered mind, free of emotional turmoil, filled with wisdom and knowledge. It also symbolizes freedom and potential for growth for youth who have lost their way, representing hope and the potential for positive change in their lives.

I got my butterfly tattoo 18 years ago, a symbol of transformation and resilience, and yet I’m still striving to emerge from the chrysalis and spread my wings, transforming into the beautiful butterfly, full of happiness, hope, and joy.

For the next 16 hours, though, I’ll be utilizing the wings of an airplane to take me to a new destination, a new day, and a new adventure. I hope I’ll discover who I am. Maybe soon I can be the butterfly, fluttering and dancing under the open sky.

Appropriately, the initial spot I visited during my 9-hour layover was the Butterfly Garden at Changi Airport. This serene and stunning tropical environment hosts over 1,000 butterflies and features an Emergence Tower, where visitors can observe pupae in the final stage of their metamorphosis. 🦋
